Have you ever felt like a small fish in a big pond?

I know I have. It can be tough to stand out in a crowded real estate market, but it's not impossible. It seems like everyone knows at least 3 real estate agents these days, all vying for your business when the time comes for you to buy or sell.

I remember the first time I interviewed for a listing - every other agent in town was competing for the same opportunity. I knew I needed to do something different, something that would make me stand out. So, I got creative with my marketing efforts, built strong relationships based on trust, demonstrated my strengths and what I have to offer, and took a client-focused approach, among many other efforts.

I didn't have an entourage of builders/developers I could represent, and I didn't grow up here in the Bitterroot Valley and know everyone and everything thing to gain that business. Those things are well and good, I just wasn't afforded that luxury. I did, however, have the tenacity to put my head down and grind to earn people's trust and show my work ethic was different from what they've known.

By doing things differently, I was able to carve out my own niche and make a name for myself in a competitive market.

So, whether you're an agent or a business owner, I want to know: how do you stand out in a crowded market? How do people earn your trust and your business? Share your tips in the comments below and let's learn from each other.
